Music Feeds Us is a concert series based in Charlottesville and Staunton, Virginia designed to promote hunger relief, which violist Fitz Gary and cellist Avery Waite co-founded in 2012. Our free events, where audience members can make free-will monetary or canned food donations, have raised over 120,000 meals for the hungry in our area. We partner with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, the largest organization providing hunger relief in Central Virginia. In addition to chamber music benefit concerts that we host every year, we have also partnered with arts organizations, libraries, and schools to promote both classical music and hunger awareness.

Through children’s concerts, we are not only educating the next generation on the joys of chamber music and the wonderful repertoire it brings, but also instilling in them the responsibility to fight for the often forgotten humanitarian issues, specifically hunger, which is still a major problem in the United States.

The goal today is to inspire audiences, through music, to give to their local food bank. By guiding the generation of tomorrow through these issues, we can hopefully make a lasting difference in our community.
